Nas minhas viagens semanais aos blogs que participam na Illustration Friday o de Mustashrik Mahbub é dos que visito sempre.

Porque este rapaz só tem 20 anos e já tem um trabalho muito bom dentro do género.

Neste blog todas as ilustrações são sempre acompanhadas por uma história da sua autoria e vale a pena ir até lá de vez em quando só para dar uma olhada aos trabalhos que vão aparecendo.

Quando encontro alguém tão jovem com este talento pergunto-me sempre onde estará na “curva da aprendizagem" daqui a uns dez anos.
Pedi-lhe que me escrevesse um pequeno texto sobre ele e sobre as suas influências para colocar neste post e aqui fica o que me contou.

”I am a 20 year old graphic design student who is in love with the world and craft of visual storytelling, be it illustration, animation or film and photography.

Since young,

I've always had some form of drawing or mark making material in my hand, and I guess I've gone all the way through with it over the last few years.

Most if not all of my work, stories and characterizations are heavily influenced by the social interactions of people around me and the appearances of the characters owe a stylistic debt to my friends and close ones.

Every storyteller and image maker borrows from things around them.

My main influences in terms of art and illustration are Jean Giraud, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Leonardo DaVinci and animator Hayao Miyazaki, and of course I can’t live without the wonderful tales of Walt Disney and the Disney classics.

In terms of writing and storytelling, I try to translate and turn into metaphor a lot of what I see and know into a great Greek mythic epic or tragedy on a Shakespearian level. Something with heart and gusto.”
